The information on animal care laws provided through this website was collected by Citizens for Animal Protection Inc., a humane organization founded in Kansas by Ann Martin. For nearly half a century she worked tirelessly to foster humane care for animals through better legislation and enforcement. Citizens for Animal Protection disbanded at the beginning of 2011. To ensure that its legacy will go on, Spay & Neuter Kansas City is continuing to make this information available to concerned citizens and to elected and appointed officials, giving them the resources they need to help animals receive humane care and treatment. Included are federal statutes plus state and local laws from Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa and Illinois.
