CHAIN OF REALITY - MARCH 17- March 22

Chain of Reality March 17, 2008Spay and Neuter Kansas City (SNKC)  hosted a week-long event to increase public awareness to pet overpopulation in Kansas City.  The goal of this event was to bring more support to spay and neutering and to help decrease the surplus of pets.  Decreasing the surplus of pets will in turn lessen shelter intake and fewer animals will have to be euthanized. See accompanying KC Star Video

The event was held at Union Station from March 17th through the 22nd and ended with a fun family day of various events.   We want to thank all those that visited our exhibit and supported our efforts.

Local shelters are forced to euthanize 15,000 dogs and cats every year.  The Chain of Reality event featured a chain of animal collars over one mile in length representing the animals euthanized in Kansas City in the past year. The purpose of the chain of collars is to bringChain of Reality March 17, 2008 a visual perceptive to the reality of pet overpopulation. While the chain of collars will serve as a tribute to the animals that died last year, the remainder of the event had an empowerment theme of the simple ways each person can save the life of at least one cat or dog.

Chain of Reality March 17, 2008Last year, SNKC spayed and neutered nearly 4,200 dogs and cats. We target our surgeries to the high risk animals that often live outdoors, have already had multiple unwanted litters and live in areas where pet owners cannot afford veterinarian care. SNKC offers critical low cost vaccinations, shelter and food to needy pets to help improve their quality of life.  Our program also provides medical care and homes for many neglected and abused animals in our community.Chain of Reality March 17, 2008

Please join SNKC in our fight against animal neglect, cruelty and the needless euthanization of dogs and cats. Please donate to our cause and help us spay and neuter over 6,000 animals in 2008 and help us decrease the number of links in our “Chain of Reality” event for next year.

Please continue to visit our website for locations and times the chain willbe on display throughout the year.
