Support SNKC by purchasing a $10 fundraising card, worth $30-$830 in FREE and discounted deals!

Spay & Neuter Kansas City provides affordable and subsidized spay and neuter services to pet owners who might not otherwise afford such services.

Click Here to Purchase Your Card Today!

By partnering with Your City Sampler, Fundraising Made Simple we are now able to offer an online fundraiser that sells fundraising cards in several states with new cards being added weekly. Each fundraising card that we offer is worth $30-$830 in FREE and discounted deals and costs only $10! The fundraising proceeds of $6 for every card sold comes directly to us!

At Spay & Neuter Kansas City, our mission is to promote responsible pet ownership, strengthen our community and to improve the pet’s quality of life through education by targeting our program to pet owners truly in need. We do this through;

Affordable spay neuter

Wellness care; vaccinations, preventative veterinary care

Pet outreach; basic pet supplies, dog/cat food and education on animal care

SNKC has long been at the forefront of targeted spay/neuter efforts in the Kansas City area. We are the only targeted spay and neuter program in Kansas City using a geographic information system to zero in on several neighborhoods with a disproportionally higher number of animal control calls. We provide low or no cost spay neuter procedures to these pet owners. Supporting and encouraging long term care for these pets in our community preserves the investment of the several hundred thousand dollars we spend annually on subsidized surgeries for low income pet owners.

Our efforts and continued support of the community has led to measurable success including lowering shelter intake as much as 35% over a 4 year period and decreasing animal control calls to the city of Kansas City, Missouri by 30%. Lowering shelter intake increases the chances of finding new homes for the unwanted or homeless pets in our area shelters.

To help make a difference, choose your state from the drop down menu at the top and then choose your Fundraising card from the list of local restaurants and establishments. Buy one, five, ten or more cards as gifts for your friends and family and help transform lives!

Kansas and Missouri are highly-susceptible tornado states (Tornado Alley). You can quickly and easily increase the chances that your pets survive a tornado by following a few simple steps. Tornadoes can produce incredible damage. Most people know what to do to protect themselves, but many do not know that they also need to make preparations that can also save their pet’s life.

The following are just a few of the recommended steps that will help prepare pet owners in the event of a tornado.

Have pet supplies in the family’s tornado-proof room or cellar – these items can be similar to those in your disaster/emergency kit

Food, water, and treats in sufficient quantities should the town’s infrastructure be

diminished and you are unable to get to the store

Sanitation items, such as a litter box and litter or puppy pads, in case an excited or

frighten pet has an accident

Crates for a cat or a frightened dog to provide the animal with a cozy, secure hiding place to weather the storm

Keep visible and current identification on pet at all times

Practice getting the entire family to the tornado safe area during calm weather

Train your dog to go to the area on command or to come to you on command regardless of distractions

Learn how to quickly and safely secure your cat

Know your pet’s hiding places and how to safely extricate him/her

Make your tornado safe area pet friendly

Eliminate unsafe hiding areas that frightened cats may find

Remove dangerous items such as tools or toxic products stored in the area

Have family and pet disaster kits available should you need to evacuate the area due to heavy destruction

Facts (according to NOAA):

An average of over 1,000 tornadoes are recorded each year in the United States.

Tornadoes have been recorded in every state in the country.

Tornado Alley refers to an area including central Texas to northern Iowa and from Kansas and Nebraska to western Ohio.

Tornadoes most often occur in the afternoon and early evening.

SNKC Recognized by ASPCA as Outstanding Response Partner

ASPCA Gives Thanks to Response Partners for Helping Animals Victims of Cruelty and Disasters. Eight animal welfare groups recognized with $10,000 grants for going above and beyond to save animals.

NEW YORK—The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today announced it will provide eight animal welfare groups each with a $10,000 grant to recognize their efforts for going above and beyond to save animal victims of cruelty or natural disasters this year.

Each group is part of the ASPCA’s Response Partner Program, a network of animal welfare organizations from across the country that assists the ASPCA Field Investigations and Response team by providing qualified personnel and services to respond to cruelty investigations and natural disasters. The network also helps the ASPCA’s field operations by taking in animals and placing them into permanent homes.

Among the 173 animal welfare and rescue groups in ASPCA’s Response Partnership network, the following groups have been recognized for their outstanding efforts in 2011:

Columbia-Greene Humane Society in Hudson, N.Y.;

Dumb Friends League in Denver, Colo.;

St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, N.J.;

Washington Animal Rescue League in Washington, D.C.;

Spay and Neuter Kansas City in Kansas City, Mo.;

Wayside Waifs in Kansas City, Mo.;

Charleston Animal Society in North Charleston, S.C.; and

Humane Society of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

“The ASPCA wanted to thank those agencies that helped us make it possible to do our life-saving work, especially in communities that were affected by devastating disasters this year,” said Jessica Rushin, partnerships manager for the ASPCA Field Investigations and Response team. “We work collaboratively with numerous agencies on cruelty cases and disaster response operations, and these agencies have stepped up to the plate and done an exceptional job by dedicating resources, time and personnel to help us in the field. We are grateful for their assistance and look forward to saving countless more animals in the New Year.”

Each of the grant recipients were selected based on the following criteria: taking in a significant number of animals from cruelty cases and disasters and placed into permanent homes; deploying multiple response teams to assist the ASPCA with operations in the field; and providing spay/neuter services and personnel to assist disaster and cruelty victims. All of these agencies have made immense contributions to the ASPCA’s disaster relief efforts this year, including the catastrophic tornadoes in Joplin, Mo. and Tuscaloosa, Ala., and severe flooding in Memphis, Tenn., Caruthersville, Mo., and Binghamton, N.Y.

In addition to this year’s devastating disasters, the ASPCA Field Investigations and Response team has responded to major events like Hurricanes Gustav and Ike in 2008 and Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. The ASPCA is commonly called upon by state and municipal governments and other animal welfare agencies to lend expertise during large-scale animal rescue operations. This year alone, the ASPCA has assisted more than 20,000 animals in communities throughout the U.S. that were devastated by tornadoes, flooding and storms.
