Pet Outreach

Spay & Neuter Kansas City’s mission is to promote spaying and neutering as a primary means of decreasing pet overpopulation.  It is also our goal to promote responsible pet ownership for the pet owners we assist.  Many pets in our community live in less than desirable conditions.  The SNKC Pet Outreach Program was formed to help improve the quality of lives for these pets through education and available resources.

Pet Outreach Coordinators travel to various areas of the city in a door to door campaign to help animals and pet owners.  Supplies such as dog houses, food and other pet necessities are given to needy pet owners and the animals are spayed and neutered.

Components of the Pet Outreach Program:

  • Food Pantry – SNKC has a dog/cat food pantry for pet owners who are in financial need of assistance in feeding their pet(s). You must complete an application to apply for assistance.
  • Wish list – We have various items you can donate to help a needy pet.
  • Education Program – Together, Wayside Waifs and Spay & Neuter Kansas City reach over 20,000 students annually through Wayside Waif’s Humane Education Program.   Educating today’s youth on responsible pet ownership and the importance of spaying and neutering will help improve our commitment to animal welfare in the future.
  • Volunteer Opportunities

  • Pet Ambassadors
  • Host dog/cat food drives
  • Clean and stock shelves in pantry

How to report a suspected Case of Animal Cruelty or Neglect

Because a report of animal cruelty may result in a criminal investigation, please start by contacting your local police department or animal control division to make a complaint. Keep in mind that although a complaint can be made  anonymously, a successful prosecution of a cruelty case often depends on an identifiable witness that may be called  upon to testify.  Without tips from concerned citizens in our community, many animals would remain in abusive circumstances unable to defend themselves.

Report Animal Abuse or Cruelty in Missouri

  • Call Kansas City, Missouri Action Center 311
  • Call 911 if you witness animal abuse

Animal cruelty is wrong and against the law in every state. Animal abuse can also be part of a pattern of other violent acts within families and society. Abuse of any kind should be reported to the appropriate authorities immediately.
