ABOUT THE PET OUTREACH PROGRAM

Spay & Neuter Kansas City’s mission is to promote spaying and neutering as a primary means of decreasing pet overpopulation. It is also our goal to promote responsible pet ownership for the pet owners we assist. Many pets in our community live in less than desirable conditions. The SNKC Pet Outreach Program was formed to help improve the quality of lives for these pets through education and available resources.
Pet Outreach Coordinators travel to various areas of the city in a door to door campaign to help animals and pet owners. Supplies such as dog houses, food and other pet necessities are given to needy pet owners and the animals are spayed and neutered. All Outreach representatives are trained to recognize cruelty and neglect and they work with officials to bring justice for those pets who suffer from such abuse.
Nearly 1,300 animals have been assisted through Outreach which includes spay and neutering and transportation to and from our spay and neuter clinic. Over 2,000 pets in this community have been given food or shelter and other necessary pet supplies through this program.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
VOLUNTEER
We are in need of more volunteers to help; however this program is not for everyone. The group travels to some of the poorest areas of Kansas City to help animals in most need. The living conditions of these animals are lessthen desirable. For the most part, pet owners are very cooperative and receptive of our efforts to help but forsafety reasons, the groups work in teams.
For many volunteers this can be both a depressing yet rewarding experience. It is difficult to imagine the daily lives of most of the animals in need until you have visited these areas first hand. However, these animals need your help. If you would like to volunteer, please contact us.
DONATE This Pet Outreach Program is the only program in Kansas City providing this type of commitment and service to a large number of dogs and cats on a regular basis. It is a program that is much needed in our community and hope you find it in your heart to help support our efforts. Our hopes are to work more closely with animal control to form a stronger partnership and decrease the number of animals impounded.

often comes across animals who are in urgent need of rescue while distributing supplies for the pet assistance program. Foster homes are desperately needed for these animals. Please download the foster care agreement and fax or mail it in if you are interested in helping!

WISH LIST
The Pet Outreach Program is in need of a transportation cargo van. The van will help us distribute more items to needy pets as well as transport many more dogs and cats to our spay and neuter clinics!
New or used dog houses in good condition
New or gently used medium to large size crates (these are used to encourage pet owners to bring their pets inside, at least for the extremely hot/cold days and to help with house training so that their animals can become indoor pets)
Bales of hay for bedding
Fly, flea and tick repellent
Dog and cat food
Treats and rawhide chews
Large water buckets with handles
Clips to attach water buckets to prevent them from spilling
Monetary donations to purchase additional items
Funds to help with spaying and neutering
Call us to arrange drop off or pickup times for large donation items.
