For over a decade I have worked as an educator in our Kansas City schools, and I am proud to use this knowledge to help build a bridge between the worlds of human and animal welfare. I have always felt that a common bond binds those lives that are downtrodden, and through compassion and education we will create a place where both can be uplifted. I am both humbled and grateful to have this opportunity to reach so many, and make a generational change in our city.
I grew up in Independence but have travelled to all of our 48 contiguous states, and all the provinces of Canada. Through my travels, I ended up in New Orleans where I earned a BA in history and political science from Southeastern Louisiana University. That is also where I met my amazing wife and best friend, Amy Herrington the Director of Operations at SNKC, whom I have been with for 20 years now. We both moved back to Kansas City in 2001, where I began my career in education and earned an MA in curriculum and instruction from the University of Missouri Kansas City.
I have an amazing wife and a 7 year old boy who are my sun and moon. I also have a dog, a cat, a sizable garden, and 5 chickens that keep us pretty busy. I love to travel, ride my bike as much as possible, and devour all music, books and movies that come my way.
